Our Greenmark team joined Business Clean Up Australia Day 2020 to do our bit in cleaning up the planet!
At Greenmark, our commitment to sustainability doesn’t simply stop at providing eco-friendly food packaging, but also involves rolling up our sleeves and taking part in Clean Up Australia Day 2020!
Our team took a step out of the office to collect the waste which had polluted our local park and riverside, to improve the park experience for our families and the wider community.
With Parramatta Park as our clean up destination, we spent the afternoon removing waste from the parklands and riverside, which was then sorted into allocated bags for recycle. Our involvement had not only aimed to benefit park visitors but also contributed to donating free materials to support other school and community clean up efforts.
This year, the initiative also focuses on encouraging Australians to do their bit to reduce single-use plastics. Making easy switches to paper straws, reusable containers and compostable food packaging are one of the simple and many ways to reduce our impact on the environment!
Food packaging made from plants can be sustainably disposed and converted back into soil and organic matter, giving essential nutrients for farmers to grow even more plants. Since compostables are made from natural materials, they break down significantly faster than plastic and have less of an impact if they ended up in the environment. Switching from plastics to compostables, we can help complete the composting cycle and close the loop on plastic waste pollution!
We are proud to have been involved in the cause – as a local business and also as food packaging suppliers, witnessing firsthand, the greater need for sustainable packaging and improved waste management to prevent pollution entering our natural environments.
Let’s work together to help clean up the planet and pave the way for a more sustainable future!
